How do challenges work and how can I participate?
Can I help promoting the challenges in some way?
What if I have an idea for a future challenge?
You can find all this information and more in the Ultra Fractal challenges FAQ, which is also part of our very first UF challenge, the one for February 2011.

Now we can go on with the last challenge's results, and then I will introduce this month's challenge to you all.
Here is the November challenge, themed "Oil on Canvas", and the deviations I've picked as the winners!
(Please note: do not feel offended if you're not in the top three. Winners are chosen basing on their way of representing the challenge theme, and I always try to be as impartial as possible while judging.)
First place goes to beautifulchaos1 with:
An extremely evocative and atmospheric artwork, which joins classic canvas elements with dim brownish tones and a dark setting, simulating a lonely building standing on top of a mountain at dusk.
Second place goes to George13 with:
This picture showcases a striking yet very appealing contrast, piecing together a pastel sunset and an almost completely black foreground, making up for a great emulation of a panoramic photograph!
Third place goes to BlurWing with:
Particularly dramatic and emotional, enticing in its resemblance of a blood stain on canvas. The lovely textures and the wisely chosen cut sum up for a greatly original example of gnarl.
And here are the other entrants for this one challenge!
We're done for November. On to December!
Ultra Fractal monthly challenges Redux
Challenge #11: December 2011
December's challenge will be a Theme) challenge - its title being Holiday Bash!
A very classic December theme - winter break in whatever form it may come for you. Whether be it spending a nice Christmas time with friends and family, waiting for midnight fireworks at New Year's Eve, hoping to get the one gift you've wanted for long as a present, eating lots of sweets and cake or anything else - everything goes for this one challenge as long as it radiates a heartfelt holiday spirit.
This is a lot less specific and fairly easier than many other challenges we've had in the past, so give it your best shot!
Here are a few wintry celebration fractals all over dA:
And here are some of the best non-fractal holiday deviations from this site!
Remember: to enter the challenge, post your deviation's link and thumb in a comment of this journal. ALSO: PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU LINK THIS NEWS ARTICLE IN THE DEVIATION. (Sorry for stating it so strongly, but I've had lots of people saying they'd enter the challenge without even stating it in their deviation comments, so I figured I'd better add this specification somewhere!)
Please spread the word by advertising this news article - we definitely want more participants. The more, the merrier!
This challenge's deadline is December 31st, 2011. Ready, set, GO!!!
