Still inspired by Janet Parke's courses, not a real assignment though. I played with the classic Mandelbrot set and zoomed on many zones to find one I liked very much - which happened to be the one you see now. To add it a desert-like touch, I made sandy textures and gave it an arid-looking gradient. Some simple masking did the rest. I'm very pleased with this result.

Colouring algorithms used: Gaussian Integer, Smooth (Mandelbrot)
Layers: 12
