Apophysis Live Tutorial Log by heavenriver Apophysis Live Tutorial Log by heavenriver
If you like my works, please come visit my Facebook page! :aww:

The result of a long work that took place today in about three hours' time.

I've held a live tutorial session for my Apophysis technique, the spherical-disc one:

Examples of fractals I made with this technique:

Since the timing was quite unfavourable, I only had very few people to listen to me (mostly because it was late night in America when I held this event), but I would still like to thank them for their presence: `FarDareisMai for the first half of the tutorial, `lindelokse and ~Chief-98 for the second, and ~WhiteKimahri for both of them :D

The first half of the session was dedicated to how to build up the base shape, whereas the second half focused on different final transform variations and possibilities. The second part was not covered in the tutorial at all, so if you're interested in this technique, be sure to read!

The download is a .rar file (you can download WinRAR for free to open it) containing a Word '97-'03 document (.doc) and an OpenOffice document (.odt). They contain the exact same log - I just made two formats available so that everyone would be able to read however he/she pleases :D

Topics covered during the live tutorial session:

- How to build up the base shape
- How to customize it
- How to "fill up" empty zones in the fractal
- Incorporating weight and xaos to the technique
- How to optimize colouring
- Shaping and texturing
- Customization possibilities
- Final transform variants
- Various sample parameters from different artists

And here are the mentees' results!

This is really a stellar livetut. IMHO livetuts are the perfect opportunity to go into more depth, and explore more tweaking opportunities, than you can in a regular tutorial, and that's exactly what you did. :) One thing I noticed is that the hyperlinks didn't get copied over into the transcript, they just appear as [link]. But that's really a minor issue because it is still easy to follow the tut without them.

Also, I got an interesting fractal from this session. :eyes: I'll be sure to tell you when I upload it.

Thank you very much for the amazing feedback! It means a lot, coming from an experienced fractalist like you.
That's weird, hyperlinks work on my version... aww. I'll try and fix if I can, anyway. Thanks for pointing out that flaw.
What I aimed for was exactly to arouse someone's curiosity and see if he/she would make a fractal basing on my technique just because he/she liked the live tutorial. =WhiteKimahri told me he's working on one, and now you too... no matter what, I see all this thing as a big success. Next time, if there are some more participants, it'll be even better.

Yup, I only linked WinRAR because it's the most common. Other programs work too, such as ZipGenius :D
